Direção Fácil: privacy and terms of use

Direção Fácil is a study app for the Brazilian driver's licence (CNH) theory exam. To keep your progress between sessions and phones it needs an account, and to pay for itself it shows optional ads and sells Premium. This page says what the app stores, who else touches it and how to have it deleted.

I, Tiago Danin, am the developer and the controller of this data under the LGPD (Lei 13.709/2018). If you are in the EU, the GDPR gives you the same rights and I answer them the same way. Write to TiagoDanin@outlook.com about any of it.

What you give the app

The first questions

Before you sign in, the app asks five questions: your goal, how much you already know, how long you can study a day, your main difficulty and how you like to learn. The answers are saved under a random ID created for that session. They are not linked to your account, your name or your email.

Your account

Studying requires signing in, with Google or with an email and password. The account holds your email, the name you type when registering and, with Google, your profile photo.

Your progress

Your profile stores your XP and level, your streak and the days you studied, achievements, completed modules, lessons and trails, daily quests, weekly XP, perfect quizzes, the questions you got wrong, whether the study reminder is on and whether you are Premium.

What the app collects on its own

Usage statistics

Google Analytics for Firebase records the screens you open and events such as starting and finishing a quiz, answering a question, signing in or out, finishing onboarding, watching an ad and opening the Premium offer. The app does not send your account ID to Analytics. Analytics also sees your device model, operating system, app version and approximate location, and it may read the device's advertising ID.

Crash reports and performance

Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes: the error, the device model, the Android version and the state of the app at that moment. Firebase Performance Monitoring measures how long screens and network requests take.

Notifications

Firebase Cloud Messaging registers a token for your device when you allow notifications. Direção Fácil sends no push messages today.

Ads

The only ads are rewarded ones: when you run out of lives you can choose to watch an ad to get one back. Nothing plays unless you tap it. Google AdMob serves them, and to pick and measure ads it uses the advertising ID, your IP address, the device model and how you interact with the ad. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android settings, under Privacy, Ads (on some phones, Google, Ads).

Premium

The Premium offer is shown by Superwall. So that a purchase can be tied to the right person, the app gives Superwall your account ID (the identifier Firebase creates for your account, not your email). Payment itself is handled by Google Play; I never see your card details.

What stays on your phone

Your cached name, email and profile photo address, your sound, vibration and reminder preferences, your lives and their timers, the last day quests were generated, and whether onboarding is done. Uninstalling the app removes them.

Who else receives it

The app has no server of its own besides the images below:

• Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore (Google) hold your account and progress. Security rules let only your signed-in account read or write your profile.
• Google Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Remote Config and Cloud Messaging receive the statistics, reports and tokens described above.
• Google Sign-In, if you choose it, confirms your identity with your Google account.
• Google AdMob receives what it needs to show the rewarded ads.
• Superwall shows the Premium offer and receives your account ID and what happens on the offer screen.
• Google Play processes purchases.
• The traffic sign images in the questions are loaded from direcaofacil.com, which receives your IP address like any web server.

Their terms: Firebase privacy, Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from apps that use its services and Superwall privacy.

I do not sell your data or hand it to a data broker. I would only disclose it if a Brazilian court or authority legally required it.

Why it is used

To run the service you asked for: keep your account and progress, build the trails and quests, and give you Premium when you pay for it. The ads and Premium pay for the app. The statistics and crash reports are used to find bugs and see which parts of the course people use, on the basis of my legitimate interest in keeping the app working.

Where it is stored

Google and Superwall store data on servers that may be outside Brazil, including in the United States. They apply the safeguards described in their data processing terms to those transfers.

How long it is kept

Your account and progress exist for as long as the account does. The onboarding answers are not linked to anyone and are kept to improve the course. Analytics statistics and crash reports are kept for the retention period configured in Firebase. AdMob, Superwall and Google Play keep their own records under their own policies, and Google Play keeps purchase records for as long as tax and consumer law require.

Deleting your account and your other rights

The app does not have a delete button yet. To delete your account, write to TiagoDanin@outlook.com from the email you use in the app and ask for deletion. Within 15 days I delete your profile and progress from Firestore and your account from Firebase Authentication, and I reply to confirm. Signing out does not delete anything.

You can also ask me what data exists about you, to correct it, to receive a copy, or to withdraw consent. I answer within 15 days, the period the LGPD sets. You may also complain to the ANPD, Brazil's data protection authority.

Security

Traffic to Firebase and Superwall is encrypted, and access to your profile is limited to your account by security rules. No system is completely secure, and I cannot promise that nobody will ever break in, but I will tell you and the ANPD if an incident puts your data at risk.

Children

Direção Fácil is meant for people preparing for the driver's licence, which in Brazil starts at 18. It is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, write to me and I delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. For a change that affects what is collected or who receives it, the app shows a notice before the change takes effect.

These terms apply to anyone who installs or uses Direção Fácil. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, uninstall the app; nothing else is needed.

Who provides the app

Tiago Danin, a private individual in Brazil, who develops and publishes Direção Fácil on Google Play. "I" and "me" below mean him. "You" means the person using the app.

What Direção Fácil is, and is not

A study app for the theory exam of the Brazilian driver's licence (CNH). It has learning trails on traffic legislation, road signs, defensive driving, first aid, basic mechanics and infractions, and multiple-choice questions in the style of the DETRAN exams, based on the Código de Trânsito Brasileiro.

Direção Fácil is not affiliated with DETRAN, SENATRAN or any government body, and it is not an official source. Studying with it does not guarantee that you pass. The questions and explanations may contain errors or fall behind a change in the law: when they disagree with the official legislation, the legislation prevails. If you find a mistake, tell me and I fix it.

Price, lives and Premium

The app is free to download and study with. Answering uses lives: you have up to five, and one comes back every five minutes.

When you run out, you can wait, watch a rewarded ad to get one life back, or buy Premium, which gives unlimited lives. Watching an ad is always your choice.

Premium is sold on an offer screen shown through Superwall and paid through Google Play. Before you confirm, that screen shows the price, the billing period and whether the plan renews. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions; cancelling stops the next charge, and Premium lasts until the end of the period already paid. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy and the rights the Código de Defesa do Consumidor gives you.

The app does not yet have a restore purchases button. If Premium does not show up after you sign in on a new phone, write to me with the email of the account and I sort it out.

Your account

You need an account, with Google or with an email and password. Keep your password to yourself, and use an email that is yours. You answer for what happens in your account. To delete it, follow the steps in the privacy policy on this page.

What you may do with it

I give you a personal, non-exclusive and revocable licence to use Direção Fácil on your devices. You may not copy, scrape, resell or republish the questions, explanations or trails, get around the lives or the payment, access other people's accounts, or use the app to break the law. The name, the icon, the design and the content remain mine.

Availability

I work on Direção Fácil in my own time. Content and features may change or be removed, the app may be unavailable for a while, and it may be discontinued. If I discontinue it, I will announce it in the app with notice.

Liability

Direção Fácil is provided as it is. To the extent Brazilian law allows, I am not liable for exam results, for decisions made based on the content, or for losses caused by the phone, the network or the services the app depends on. Nothing here removes a right that the law gives you and that a contract cannot take away, such as those in the Código de Defesa do Consumidor.

Ending

You can stop at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. I may suspend an account that breaks these terms, telling you why at the account's email.

Privacy

What the app collects is described in the privacy policy on this same page.

Changes

I may update these terms. The date at the top changes when I do, and a change that affects you is announced in the app before it takes effect. A price change for a subscription follows Google Play's rules, which notify you in advance. Continuing to use Direção Fácil after a change means you accept the new version.

Law

Brazilian law governs these terms. Anything an email cannot settle goes to the courts of Belém, Pará, without prejudice to your right as a consumer to sue where you live.
